Famous Mallorca is still very popular with tourists from all over the world. No wonder! The island offers beautiful beaches, great food, charming villages and a lot of architectural gems – modern and traditional. Getting around by rental car is easy – and for horse-lovers, there is a variety of riding schools offering anything from pony rides for kids to professional training camps.

Stay – around Ses Salines: 

  • Finca Hotel Rural Es Turó. This 4* hotel is located in the South of the island. They offer standard rooms and larger suites and apartments in a shabby chic design. The outdoor pools are picturesque and there is a small spa and gym available.
  • Tres Hermanas. Multi-unit residence with great architecture by Gus Wüstemann and immersive interior design by Iria Degen. The modern finca offers three private units, a 25m saltwater pool, a sauna and even a yoga pavillion. 

Eat – around Ses Salines:

  • Es Moli Santanyi. Dive into traditional Mallorcan tapas in the pretty town of Santanyi.
  • Moli de Sal. Our favorite restaurant! Grilled meat, veggies and fish served on a beautiful terrace. Located just next to the salt production site.
  • Cassai Beach House. Nicely set right at the sea in Colonia Sant Jordi.
  • Gelateria Colonial. For dessert head over here!
  • Bodega Barahona. An institution for tapas and traditional dishes since 1945. Even tennis star Rafael Nadal was here.
  • S`era. Here we had the best lamb gigot and cheese platter.
  • Bistro Calle Cruz 20. When in Campos, come here for some brunch, lunch or caketime. They also have a little outdoor shop inside their beautiful courtyard. 
  • L‘ Aurora. Tastefully designed restaurant with terrace and great wine.

Do & See – around Ses Salines:

  • Salinas d`es Trenc. Learn about the local salt production and take a walk through the salt hills and pans. Maybe you are lucky to see some flamingos! Pre-booking recommended.
  • Cuevas del Drach. This is a half-day trip 50 car minutes away. To visit the so-called Dragon Caves in Porto Cristo, make sure you have an online reservation. The 1 hour tour into the fascinating caves is popular even off-season.
  • Cala Santanyi. This is the perfect spot for some relaxed beach time. There is restaurants and parking around. It is close to the beautiful Mirador of Es Pontàs – the 20m high natural limestone arch.
  • Huguet. If interested in great craft, come to visit the Huguet showroom located in Campos. It displays wonderful tile designs and terrazzo pieces, all locally produced.

Stay – around Bunyola: 

  • Agroturismo Alqueria Blanca. A real gem! This agroturismo offers accommodation in nature just 30 minutes away from Palma. The setting is amazing – a castle within the mountainous landscape. The garden, the terrace, lounges and beautiful pool invite you to stay longer than you want. And the breakfast served inside or on the terrace is just lovely.

Eat – around Bunyola: (within 20min car ride)

  • Antic Grill. Bunyola – Come here for grilled meat and fish, they also provide the Alqueria Blanca with dinner menus in the hotel dining room.
  • La Posada. Valdemossa – Enjoy a beautiful ride through the landscape to come up here. You can get a table overlooking the valley. Try the juicy Empanadillas!
  • Il Forno a Legna . Palma – For tasty wood-oven pizza and pasta, visit this Pizzeria with a view.

Do & See – around Bunyola:

  • Soller. The picturesque town to the North is very popular and you need to calculate some time to get into it, especially if by car and in need of parking.
  • Valdemossa. Another beautiful town, where the streets and alleys look like in a movie.
  • Horsebackriding is very popular around this area. There are various riding schools. We tried short rides for kids at Club Hipico La Gubía and Club Hipico Granja Es Pi. Both were professional and the horses looked well-cared-for.
  • If you fancy some shopping and entertainment (also for kids) in the Palma region, check out the Fan Mallorca. They have lots of shops, playgrounds and restaurants.
